How to Choose a Costume For Women
Halloween for many adults is often more of a costume hunting challenge than a
celebration of sweets and creativity. But if you can get passed this seemingly
minor obstacle you can be on your way to pretending you are having a
happy-go-lucky, carefree night. Customarily, ladies probably will have a more
difficult time pinning down the right costume. For once, though, it is for a
good reason--there are hundreds upon thousands of choices available for women of
all sizes, personalities, and shapes. That said, almost all adult ladies costume
choices do fall into one of two basic categories--sexy costumes and all the
others.
Naturally there are the traditional Halloween costumes like a cat, a witch, a
ghost, etc. These are likely your first choice for the conventional Halloween
party goer. Practically any costume can be adjusted to have a sexier, sleeker
look or you can play it down so to speak, and maintain your modesty. Plus size
costumes are on the market in just about every style now. It's really important
to choose a costume that you are relaxed and comfortable in, both mentally and
physically. It's pretty challenging to pull off your look if you do not feel
self-assured in your halloween costume.
It seems to me that the sexy category has grown a lot in the last few years,
which means the costume options are getting more diverse. Now it's not only a
choice between sexy female cop or a sexy maid (although these are fabulous
options). Sexy costumes have spread out to include pop culture. Because of shows
like 'Alias' and movies like 'Charlie's Angels', women can now have a specific
strong and sexy person in mind for Halloween night. After all, it's, the one
night a year when a customarily very professional and conventional woman can cut
loose a little bit in public.
On the other side of things; in the not necessarily sexy category, there are
also many fabulous choices. Television shows and movies can still be your
inspiration. Classic television shows like 'I Dream of Jeanie' and 'I Love Lucy'
offer you fantastic female characters. Costumes from a specific period are also
great options. An intricate Renaissance era costume or even a twenties flapper
dress can be grand fun.The 1950s is another great time period. Think poodle
skirts, ponytails and saddle shoes. Above all, try matching your personality to
your costume or vice versa. There's just not much that completes an outfit
better than your playacting.
Once you've decided on your halloween costume, don't forget to accessorize
with feather duster, make-up, a handbag, jewelry, wig -- whatever is appropriate
for your costume. A great wig can seriously have a huge impact on a costume.
When you get all your finishing touches in place, go to your party ready to blow
away the other guests. Have some fun this Halloween and live out a couple of
fantasies. Really, that is what this holiday is all about.
